We’re super excited to release the 2021 Conference schedule! Our conference’s theme remains Confronting Colonialism and Anti-Black Racism and will be taking place online June 3 – 4, 2021.
As part of this year’s online conference, we have three special programs along with our wonderful lineup of panel sessions. First, in collaboration with the Canadian Games Studies Association (CGSA), we have a Creator Talk featuring Evan Narcisse (Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Rise of the Black Panther). Second, we have a Special Seminar titled “Bridging Divides / Bâtir des passerelles: 2 Solitudes in Canadian Comics/BD Canadienne”. And lastly, we have a Roundtable Session called “The Canadian Comics Studies Publishing Roundtable”. And to top everything off, we’ll also be sharing access to some special programming from other societies’ conferences too!

The event is open to all CSSC members. If you are not a member yet, please click here. If you are already a member, you can register for the conference here.

Lastly, the CSSC/SCEBD will be hosting a Twitter Storm on Friday May 28, 2021 at 2pm (MST)/ 4pm (EDT). If you are on Twitter, please feel free to join us and follow the CSSC’s Twitter account! It will be a chance for comic scholars to connect, promote comic studies work, and engage in discussion. Like our last Twitter storm, there will be discussion questions ready to help generate conversation. If you would like to confirm participation, please feel free to email VP Communication (English) Erika Chung (erika.chung@ryerson.ca).

We can’t wait to connect with everyone online!
